Originally installed as part of Wikipedia’s official 10th anniversary party, at the Louise T Blouin Foundation in West London in January 2011. Alpha-ville are pleased to present a re-formulated version of this installation, entitled Edits, at our Innovation Space. The installation expresses Wikipedia’s constant activity, as users around the world create and contribute to articles. A series of printers will be suspended over the space. These printers continuously print a physical momentary record of individual contributions, along with an excerpt summarizing the article edited. A snapshot of the live and constantly evolving collaboration of millions, captured in the physical world.
McNamee is a designer and engineer who studied at the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design. He has created and developed numerous web experiments and data-vis projects, along with integrated installations such as the project on display at Alpha-ville. In the past he has worked with companies, artists and musicians such as Battles, UVA, The Times and Native Instruments.Tim Burrell-Saward is a London based designer and maker with a background in product and lighting design.
